UNBLND is a social network that connects strangers and turns them into a group of friends. Based on your interests and hobbies, UNBLND instantly gets you in touch with like-minded people. Sounds fun, right?
Robin Dunbar, an anthropologist professor at the University of Oxford stated that one can only maintain stable social relationships with a maximum of 150 people, which later on became known as the ‘Dunbar’s number’. With the increasing usage of social media, we make more and more connections with people, but that does not mean that the relationships we have with them are satisfying enough. Inspired by that fact, Unblnd facilitates the process of making lasting friendships by connecting people with mutual interests and encouraging them to spend quality time together.
How do I get started, you might ask?
The first step is to download the UNBLND app on Google Play or Apple Store. After you download the app, you will be able to create an account with your email, Facebook, Google account or even Apple ID. It is up to you.
Soon after, you’ll be invited to set your location and the activities you are interested in. You can choose different interests everyday. Are you visiting a museum and would like company? Choose “museum” as your interest. Do you want to chill in a park while talking about your new favourite series? Choose “chilling in the park”.
An evolving and sophisticated algorithm will put you (the user) into groups that are relevant to you: all based on the information you provide while filling out your profile. The more info you give, the better the system can work.
Now just wait until you are put into an interest group
You do not have to make effort to get into any groups. Our algorithm will automatically select your dream groups for you. Why dream groups? Because these are formed based on the mutual interest that you and other users have, allowing you to become buddies very easily. Once that happens, be sure to be greeted by one of our super-friendly ambassadors. The interactions between you and the other users are facilitated by ambassadors, who are helping to reach our mission: building authentic connections through meaningful group experiences. We have two important facilitators: friendly ambassadors and a sophisticated algorithm. Your GPS location is also taken into consideration, so if you live in a big city, you’ll surely find people that are close to you.

UNBL(I)ND when you feel ready
It is important to state that your personal information is always protected. You do not need to unveil yourself until you decide to take part in a conversation, or even join events organized by the members of the groups you’re in. This way you can see if you are interested in what is going on in a specific interest-based circle of friends. Did you have a good time with one or all your group members? You can send an unblnd request to them. Once they accept your request, you can see their personal information such as profile picture and bio.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, we created the meet@unblnd platform thinking about the people who need connections in their lives. So now, you can also meet your unblnd buddies online using free video chatting. No need to create an account tho. You can download meet@unblnd on your phone or create a meeting directly from your computer. A link to your meeting will be generated and you can share it with as many people as you like.
